The ADK (app development kit) is everything needed to build an Atrium app: the runtime contract, the API, the starter samples, the rules and the design system. Every page here is short, dense Markdown, so you can hand it straight to an AI tool.

Building screens? The Atrium design system opens in a new tab, with components you can copy.
What is in it
Section titled “What is in it”| Part | What it covers | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Runtime contract | Manifest, signed calls, lifecycle, health, limits, permissions | Developer guide |
| Samples | Hello apps in Node, Python, Go and .NET | Starter samples |

| Design system | Plain tokens and components for screens inside COHO | Atrium design system (new tab) |
| Building with AI | Prompts, Playground, staying safe | Build with AI |
Rules and suggestions
Section titled “Rules and suggestions”- Rule: required for apps COHO builds, and checked when any app asks for a public listing.
- Suggestion: recommended for every app, so it fits inside COHO without having to look identical to it.
Third-party apps are free to go further than the suggestions. Rules exist where breaking them would hurt a customer or COHO.
Design
Section titled “Design”Screens inside COHO (quick views and full app pages) should use the Atrium design system. It is deliberately plain: neutral colours, one type scale, simple components. It is not COHO’s own styling, which is for COHO’s internal developers.
